How do I run a DirectX diagnostic?

In order to find the cause of the problem, please supply us with the following DirectX diagnostic summary.

For XP users:
 
1. Click the Start button.
2. Click 'Run'.
3. In the open dialog box, type: 'dxdiag'.  The diagnostic tool will run.
4. Click to 'Save All Information' and save "dxdiag.txt" to your desktop.
5. Attach the "dxdiag.txt" document to your support email.

For Vista users:

1. Click the Start button.
2. In the Search field, enter 'dxdiag'.  The diagnostic tool will run.
3. Click to 'Save All Information' and save "dxdiag.txt" to your desktop.
4. Attach the "dxdiag.txt" document to your support email.

You may also want to try the following steps to resolve the issue:

A. Ensure that your computer meets or exceeds the minimum system requirements of the program, especially the video card. Most games will NOT work with Intel graphics controllers/express chipsets, as well as similar integrated (also known as "on-board") graphics chips such as the SIS and VIA chips.

B. Check with the manufacturers for updated Sound Card, Video Card and other relevant system drivers.

C. Download and install the latest version of DirectX from Microsoft. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=179113&product=drx

D. Check for important Windows updates and install if needed. You may go to www.windowsupdate.com for information.
